portrait photographer – souleye
I’m a professional portrait photographer with a background in visual arts. I discovered photography at random when I saw someone I knew show some pictures I found very artistic on tv. my first camera was a german made praktica llc with a zoom lens. after about a year of savings, I could get a flight attendant to buy me my first brand new camera: a pentax k1000 with a standard lens. most of the pictures that I took at the time were photo journalistic in nature. to make money, I was doing a lot of portraits, mostly of women who would frame them. as my reputation grew I was doing a lot of casual portraits, group pictures and events. unlike today, photography had a lot of mystique because very few could afford a camera. you would only see one with a wealthy tourist, a reporter and a few artists who had chosen photography as an art medium. It was very easy, walking down the street to have someone say ‘hey, photographer, take my picture’. what I started to like about taking people’s portraits was the rapport that you developed.
when I came to the us, photography was at first what I wanted to do. I did some odd jobs, went to school here and there but with my interest in fashion, I started out in modeling photography. I can boast of being one of the best photographers for modeling portfolios and actors headshots in the dc area.
shooting on location is not always fun because of many variables. I finally decided to open a studio in takoma park to provide the best in portrait photography. so if you’re looking for a portrait photographer in washington dc sharpfocus is the name you can trust. check some of my portraits samples
